South San Francisco is its own incorporated city in San Mateo County — not a neighborhood of San Francisco — with six confirmed pickleball venues totaling 20 courts. Four are free, walk-up outdoor parks and two are indoor pay-to-play facilities; a couple of addresses below are genuinely unsettled, and we flag exactly which ones rather than papering over it.
Four outdoor courts with permanent pickleball lines and portable nets, free and walk-up. Officially these are listed and striped as tennis courts, but they carry permanent pickleball lines and see regular play. The street address is unsettled — we list 37 Buena Vista Rd, though you may also see 39 Buena Vista Rd or 27 Appian Way, so use the cross street to home in on the courts. Lit for evening play.
One of South San Francisco's most solid picks — four outdoor courts with permanent lines, free and walk-up. Bring your own net; the city doesn't provide one. Restrooms, a picnic shelter, and grills are on site. The address is 2350 Galway Dr; you may occasionally see 2380 Galway Dr quoted, but it's the same park.
Four outdoor hard courts with permanent lines and portable nets provided on site, free and walk-up, open 5am–9pm daily. Restrooms, water, lights, and wheelchair access are all on site, and the address checks out. This is one of the most reliable outdoor options in the city.
Two outdoor hard courts with permanent lines, bring-your-own net, free and walk-up. The naming and address are genuinely unsettled: the courts go by "Stonegate Park" at 630 Stonegate Dr, but the city maps a matching tennis court as "Stonegate Tennis Courts" on Ridgeview Court, with no pickleball noted. Both streets sit inside the same small Stonegate Terrace development near San Bruno Mountain State Park, so this is almost certainly one facility described two ways rather than two separate courts. Treat the exact address as approximate until you've seen it in person.
Four indoor hard courts at the city-run gym, with portable nets on permanent lines. Current drop-in open play runs Tuesdays and Thursdays, noon–3pm, $4 for adults and $2 for youth and seniors, registered through the city's online catalog. You may also see a separate Monday evening session listed, 7–9pm, flat $4, with a house coach for beginners — that program may be outdated, so plan around the Tuesday/Thursday schedule and confirm the current catalog before heading over.
A private indoor facility with two dedicated pickleball courts on concrete, permanent nets, and a day-pass system bookable online. The facility, address, and indoor setup are solid; the exact court count and concrete surface are worth confirming before you commit. Day passes run roughly 8am–10pm; the price isn't published, so call or check the booking site directly. Locker rooms, a pro shop, and water are on site.
