Pickleball Bay Area is a static, no-login site. This page explains the little data that passes through it, in plain language.
Hosting
This site is served from two hosts: Firebase Hosting (Google Cloud) at pickleball-bay-area.com, and GitHub Pages at reidbrawer-ops.github.io. Whichever one you reach, that provider — Google or GitHub, not us — receives standard server logs for every request (IP address, browser type, page requested) as part of running the hosting infrastructure. We don't have access to that raw log data ourselves. See Firebase's privacy and security information and GitHub's privacy statement for what each does with it.
No accounts. Limited analytics, no ad trackers
There's no login and no user accounts. As of July 2026, this site uses Google Analytics 4 to see aggregate traffic — which pages get visited, roughly how people found the site, general location and device type. It doesn't identify you personally, and we don't run any ad network or tracking pixel beyond it. We configure Analytics to deny advertising and personalization signals, so your visit isn't used for ad targeting or shared for cross-context behavioral advertising. Google Analytics sets its own cookies and is subject to Google's privacy policy.
Alongside page views we record a few anonymous interaction events, so we can tell which parts of the site are working: how far through the paddle quiz people get and which question they stop on, which catalog filters and chart controls get used, which paddles get compared, and which outbound paddle links get clicked. These are counts, not profiles. Two things we deliberately leave out: what you type into the paddle search box (we record only that a search happened, its length, and whether it matched anything) and the email address you give the quiz, which goes only to the private list described below and is never sent to Analytics.
We honor browser privacy signals automatically: if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or "Do Not Track" signal, Analytics does not load at all. You can also opt this browser out directly below, or use the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
Your California privacy rights
If you're a California resident, the CCPA/CPRA gives you the right to know what personal information is collected about you, to request its deletion, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of it. We don't sell your personal information, and — because we deny advertising signals in Analytics (above) — we don't share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. To exercise the know/delete rights, or ask any question about your data, reach us through the correction form. To stop analytics on this browser, use the control below; we also honor the Global Privacy Control signal as a valid opt-out.
The correction form
The correction form is handled by a third-party form service, Formspree. If you submit a correction, the details you enter (and your email address, if you choose to include one so we can reply) are sent through Formspree to us. We use it only to review and act on the correction — we don't add you to a list or share it elsewhere. See Formspree's privacy policy for how they handle that data in transit.
Find your paddle
The Find your paddle quiz asks for your email address before showing your results. That email, your quiz answers, and the paddles you were matched to are stored in our Firestore database (Google Cloud) as a write-only record — visible to us, never displayed back on the site or accessible to other visitors. We use it to show you your results and to occasionally email you about new paddle drops or deals; every such email includes an unsubscribe option. We don't sell or share this list with third parties.
Outbound links & affiliate links
This site links out to city recreation department pages, booking systems, retailers, and other third-party sites. Once you click through, you're subject to that site's own privacy practices and cookies, not ours.
Some outbound links on the Paddles page are affiliate links: if you buy a paddle or gear after clicking one, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This applies only to paddle and gear links — our court listings, city pages, rankings, and directory carry no affiliate links and are never influenced by them. Affiliate links are disclosed at the point where they appear and on the affiliate disclosure page. Affiliate programs (and any retailers we use) set their own cookies once you reach their site; some use a cookie to attribute a later purchase back to us.
Children's privacy
This site isn't directed at children and doesn't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Changes to this policy
If what this site collects or how it's shared changes, this page will be updated to reflect that, with a new date below.
Last updated: July 2026. Questions about this policy can be sent through the correction form.
