Alameda

Alameda has six pickleball venues, but two carry real question marks: pickleball at Alameda Point Gym isn't officially confirmed, and South Shore Apartments' rooftop courts appear to be a private amenity with no confirmed public access. The other four are solid — free city courts at Lincoln Park and Leydecker Park, plus two membership clubs, The Hub Sports Club and Harbor Bay Club, with dedicated indoor and outdoor courts.

Where to play

Lincoln Park

Mixed levels
1450 High St, Alameda, CA 94501 Directions →
4 dedicated courts Level: Not specified Hours: Keypad-gated; general park hours
SurfaceHigh — dedicated permanent lines and nets, resurfaced specifically for pickleball in 2017
LevelNot specified
WeatherMild, marine-influenced — fog common, breezy afternoons
WaitMedium — free and walk-up, but keypad-gated access limits casual drop-ins

Alameda's most established pickleball venue — an officially recognized "Pickle Ball Court" facility, with four courts resurfaced specifically for pickleball in 2017 with dedicated lines and nets. Access is by keypad code rather than an open gate; contact ARPD's Recreation Supervisor (510-747-7555) for the current code. Free and walk-up, though the Alameda Pickleball Club runs several weekly sessions here — Monday/Wednesday midday, Wednesday/Saturday mornings, and Saturday afternoon.

Leydecker Park

Mixed levels
3221 Mecartney Road, Alameda, CA 94502 Directions →
4 courts Level: Not specified Hours: Dawn–dusk (park hours)
SurfaceMedium — shared tennis courts with portable nets, not dedicated pickleball courts
LevelNot specified
WeatherMild, marine-influenced — fog common, breezy afternoons
WaitLow — shared tennis courts, less of a draw than Lincoln Park's dedicated setup

Tennis courts on Bay Farm Island shared with pickleball via portable nets, not dedicated pickleball-only courts — but the sport is officially supported here, with a dedicated "Pickleball Net Code" for access. Free and walk-up, dawn to dusk. The street number is unsettled: we use 3221 Mecartney Road, though you may see 3225 quoted — worth double-checking if you're relying on GPS.

The Hub Sports Club - Alameda

Mixed levels
800 W Tower Ave, Alameda, CA 94501 Directions →
15 dedicated courts (8 indoor, 7 outdoor) Level: Not specified Hours: Mon–Fri 5am–10pm, Sat 7am–8pm, Sun 7am–6pm
SurfaceHigh — dedicated permanent lines and nets; indoor courts are a PPA-approved cushioned surface
LevelNot specified
WeatherMild, marine-influenced outdoors; indoor courts unaffected
WaitLow — membership-based and reservable, unlike the free public courts

The largest pickleball facility in Alameda by far — 15 total courts, 8 indoor on a PPA-approved cushioned surface plus 7 outdoor, all dedicated with permanent lines and nets. It's a paid club, not a public park: Gold Fitness + Pickleball membership runs $135/month plus a $69 initiation fee, though non-members can drop in for $35 when space allows. Opened May 2024 with lighted outdoor courts, and it's the home venue of Major League Pickleball's Bay Area Breakers.

Harbor Bay Club

All levels
200 Packet Landing Rd, Alameda, CA 94502 Directions →
7 dedicated courts Level: All levels (lessons available) Hours: Mon–Fri 5am–10pm, Sat–Sun 7am–8pm
SurfaceHigh — dedicated permanent lines and nets, lighted
LevelLessons and clinics for all skill levels with certified coaches
WeatherMild, marine-influenced — fog common, breezy afternoons
WaitLow — membership required and reservable up to 8 days ahead

Seven dedicated, lighted outdoor courts at a membership club on Bay Farm Island, with lessons and clinics for all skill levels from certified coaches. Reservable online up to 8 days ahead. Membership pricing (Individual/Couple/Family/Senior tiers) isn't published online — the club asks that you call or submit an inquiry form.

Alameda Point Gym

Mixed levels
1101 West Redline Avenue, Alameda, CA 94501 Directions →
2 courts (unconfirmed) Level: Not specified Hours: Not specified
SurfaceMedium — shared multi-purpose gym floor; pickleball setup implied but not confirmed
LevelNot specified
WeatherIndoor — not weather-dependent
WaitLow — quiet, if pickleball happens here at all

The most doubtful entry in Alameda. You'll see it listed elsewhere as a 2-court indoor pickleball venue, but this building is officially just a gymnasium — basketball, volleyball, restrooms — with no pickleball on record, and the people who actually use it are there for basketball, jiu-jitsu, and wrestling. If pickleball happens here at all, it's likely an occasional portable-net setup on the gym floor rather than a standing program. Worth a call to ARPD (510-747-7555) before making a special trip.

South Shore Apartments

Skill-tiered leagues
934 Shorepoint Ct, Alameda, CA 94501 Directions →
4 courts (private complex) Level: Beginner–advanced leagues Hours: Not specified
SurfaceMedium — permanent lines but portable nets, on a private rooftop sports park
LevelBeginner, intermediate, and advanced leagues (MyOPL.net)
WeatherMild, marine-influenced — fog common, breezy afternoons
WaitLow — restricted to residents/guests, so likely quiet; general public access unconfirmed

A real amenity — a 1-acre rooftop "Sports Park" at this Greystar-managed apartment complex, with four pickleball courts (permanent lines, portable nets) and three skill-tiered leagues (beginner, intermediate, advanced) run through MyOPL.net. But it's a private complex, first and foremost an apartment community, and whether the courts or leagues are open to non-residents isn't confirmed. Treat this one as tentative — confirm access with the leasing office before counting on it.
